ガラ紡機が来ました‼
皆様いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
さて、本日和綿ワークショップに参加して下さいました柳さんより、超特別スペシャルにガラ紡機をお借りしました❗
ガラ紡機とは日本人が作った綿から糸を作り出す機械で、糸を作る際にガラガラと音が鳴ることから「ガラ紡機」となった様です。
しかし時代と共に海外産の紡績機械などに押されて、今は日本中に数台しか無くなってしまったとのこと。
しかしこのガラ紡機の凄い所は少量の綿でもスピンドルで作った様な手紡ぎ風の糸が出来る所🎵
早速柳さんのご指導の元、ガラ紡機の使い方を教えて頂き、トータルケアセンターで収穫した和綿の打ち綿をセット。
綿から糸になっていく様子は本当に嬉しく、見ていても本当に楽しいです😁
ガラ紡機の筒に綿を入れるのですが、入れ方のコツを教えて頂き糸の太さを試しました。
糸が出来たら織物でも編み物でも創作の幅が一気に広がります🍀
今回はお借りしたガラ紡機ですが、いつかは常設してトータルケアセンターでも種まきから自主製品までの全工程が出来たらと思います😉

By the way, Mr. Yanagi who participated in this work-day cotton workshop, borrowed a gala spinning machine super special special ❗
Gala spinning machine is a machine that produces yarn from cotton made by Japanese, it seems that it became a “gala spinning machine” because it rattles and rattles when making thread.
But as time passed, overseas spinning machinery etc. pushed down, now only few in Japan have gone.
However, the great place of this gala spinning machine is a place where you can make hand-spun style thread like spindle made with a small amount of cotton
Together with Mr. Yanagi’s guidance, I taught how to use the gala spinning machine and set the cotton wad of Japanese cotton harvested at the total care center.
It is really pleasing how cotton turns into thread, it is really fun even if you look at it.
I put cotton in the barrel of the glass spinning machine, but I taught how to put it in, and tried the thickness of the thread.
When the thread is made, the width of creation spreads at a stroke regardless of whether it is a textile or a knit. 🍀
This time it is a borrowed glass spinning machine, but I think that I would like to have a permanent installation someday and complete the entire process from seeding to voluntary product even at the total care center 😉
